Insect Bingo Cards

A reason to look closely on a walk through the garden or park. Hand out cards of bugs to find — a ladybug on a leaf, an ant on the path, a dragonfly over the pond — and the first to a line wins.

Free to design and print · edit any square · 3×3, 4×4, or 5×5

Insect bingo turns a backyard or a school field trip into a scavenger hunt. Give each child a card and let them mark off the bugs they spot — a grasshopper in the grass, a bee on a flower, a beetle under a log. Start from the spring garden template, keep the insects below or add the ones common where you live, and print a set in a couple of minutes.

Because every card is shuffled from the same insect list, no two players get the same grid, so a group can fan out across the yard and each still has a unique hunt. Edit any square to match your region or season, then print on letter or A4 for the trip.

Ideas for your game
  • Turn a walk into a hunt

Give each child a card before a garden or park walk and let them mark insects as they spot them — it keeps young eyes scanning the ground and the air.

  • Match it to your region

Since every square is editable, swap in the insects that actually live near you so the hunt stays realistic and kids find what they are looking for.

  • Print a stack or play on phones

Print a card per child for a field trip, or share a link and QR code so a class can play live and mark finds from their own devices.

Editable and printable

Edit every square. Open the card in the editor, keep the suggested squares or replace them with your own words, emoji, or photos, and pick a theme that fits the day.

Print a whole set at once. Each card is shuffled from the same square list, so every player gets a unique grid. Print to standard letter or A4 paper on any home printer — or order professionally printed cards shipped to your door.

Or play live. Share one link and a QR code and the whole room plays from their phones, in person or over video.

Questions

How do I make insect bingo for free?

Open the editor, pick the spring garden theme, keep the suggested insects or type your own, and print. A basic set costs nothing to design and print.

Is this different from butterfly bingo?

Yes. This card covers ground and flying insects like ants, bees, and beetles rather than butterflies, so it suits a broader bug hunt or science unit.

Can I use local insects only?

Yes. Every square is editable, so you can replace the defaults with the insects common in your area or the season you are exploring.

How many cards do I need?

One per player. Each card is randomly shuffled from the same insect list, so a group of any size can play and still get unique grids.
