Adverbs Bingo Cards

A grammar game that sticks. Read a sentence aloud, and players listen for the word that tells how, when, or where the action happens — then mark it on their grid the moment they catch it.

Free to design and print · edit any square · 3×3, 4×4, or 5×5

Adverbs bingo gives students repeated, low-pressure practice spotting the words that modify verbs. Each square holds a common adverb, so as you read sentences aloud the class hunts for quickly, rarely, or outside and crosses it off when it lands.

Start from the chalkboard template, keep the adverbs below or load the ones from this unit, and print a set in minutes. Every card is shuffled from the same word list, so no two students share a grid and nobody can copy a neighbor.

Ideas for your game
  • Sort by question type

Color-code squares by what each adverb answers — how, when, or where — so students see the three families of adverbs at a glance while they play.

  • Call sentences, not words

Instead of reading the adverb itself, read a full sentence and let students find the adverb hiding inside it before they mark the matching square.

  • Print a stack or play live

Print a tidy batch for desks, or share one link and a QR code so a tablet group plays together during a literacy center rotation.

Editable and printable

Edit every square. Open the card in the editor, keep the suggested squares or replace them with your own words, emoji, or photos, and pick a theme that fits the day.

Print a whole set at once. Each card is shuffled from the same square list, so every player gets a unique grid. Print to standard letter or A4 paper on any home printer — or order professionally printed cards shipped to your door.

Or play live. Share one link and a QR code and the whole room plays from their phones, in person or over video.

Questions

How do I make adverbs bingo for free?

Open the editor, pick the chalkboard theme, keep the adverb squares or type the words from your unit, and print. A basic set is free to make and print.

What grade level is this for?

It suits upper-elementary and middle-school grammar lessons. Swap common adverbs for trickier ones to stretch students who already know the basics.

How is this different from an adjective game?

Adverbs describe verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs, while adjectives describe nouns. Use sentences in this game so students hear the adverb modifying an action.

Can I print these on regular paper?

Yes. The print view is sized for standard letter and A4 paper, so any classroom printer works. You can also order professionally printed cards.
